In February of 2001 and 2002 Rutahsa Adventures led small groups of adventurous travelers to Bolivia to experience the cultural wonder of Carnival de Oruro and the natural wonder of the Salar de Uyuni-- along with many other Bolivian marvels. In doing so we discovered a little-known secret: the wet season is THE time to visit Bolivia! The otherwise parched altiplano landscape is verdant and abloom with wildflowers, the skies are dramatic, and temperatures are pleasantly mild.
It was not our intention to return to Bolivia in 2003, but we have had several requests that we organize and lead a trip similar to our Feb. 2002 trip, with the result that we now have planned another Bolivia trip at Carnival time!
Carnival 2003 is scheduled for the first week in March, so our trip would will begin Feb. 27, and end Mar. 12, 2003.
We will need 10 participants to declare this trip a "go". We will limit the trip participation to 16. The cost will be $1945 per person (price includes daily breakfast, six lunches, four suppers; does not include airfare, but we can help you get a very reasonable airfare).
If you are interested in witnessing (and being part of) the fabulous folkloric festival of Carnival de Oruro, or would like to see the mind-blowing Salar de Uyuni acting as the biggest mirror on earth, and much more...then you should do two things: 1) take a look at our proposed itinerary for 2003, to see the type of trip we are offering; 2) e-mail us to request an application blank or to have us put you on our Carnival trip update list.
